Email Marketing Automations FAQ

This FAQ covers the automation behavior that is currently visible in the Mailcamp app.

Why is my automation not working?

  • First, check whether the automation status is Paused or showing an Error state.
  • Then review the trigger and action setup to make sure the workflow is fully configured for the audience or source it depends on.
  • If the automation uses store-based logic, such as WooCommerce abandoned cart, also confirm the store connection is still valid.
  • You can use the automation Statistics, Audience, and Timeline views to see whether contacts are entering the workflow and where activity stops.

What does Paused mean?

  • In Mailcamp, an inactive automation is shown as Paused.
  • A paused automation is not actively running new automation activity until it is enabled again.
  • If you are troubleshooting an automation that is not moving, checking its current status is the first step.

Can I edit an automation after creating it?

  • Yes, you can open the automation editor and update the workflow configuration after the automation has been created.
  • You can edit settings, update actions, replace certain actions, or remove steps and add them again in the correct position.
  • For larger workflow changes, it is safer to review the automation carefully before saving so you do not unintentionally change the live path contacts will follow.

Can I manually trigger an automation for a contact?

  • Yes. Mailcamp includes a Trigger Now action for contacts who have not yet entered the automation.
  • This is useful when you want to force a contact into the workflow for testing or operational reasons.
  • Use it carefully, because the contact can be triggered even if the normal trigger condition was not met.

How can I see where contacts are in the automation?

  • Open the automation and review the Statistics view to see contact counts and overall progress.
  • Use the Audience view to inspect contacts associated with the automation.
  • Use the Timeline view to review recent automation activity and contact progression.

Can I preview an automation?

  • Mailcamp does provide preview support for automation emails and templates.
  • You should not assume there is a separate read-only workflow preview mode if that option is not visible in your automation UI.
  • When in doubt, use the available editor, statistics, and contact activity views to inspect the workflow.

Can I duplicate an automation?

  • Yes. Mailcamp includes a copy flow for automations.
  • This is the safest option when you want to test a new variation without heavily changing the original workflow first.
  • It is especially helpful before making major structural edits to an automation that is already in use.

Important note

  • This FAQ should only describe behavior that is actually visible in the current Mailcamp automation interface.
  • It should not promise features such as Drafts tabs, bulk add-existing-contacts flows, or read-only workflow preview modes unless those features are present in the account UI.
